Get Christmas Organised by Katy

Image
While I do like Christmas, I have to admit that I am not a big fan of the fuss and planning in the run up! So for my project this month I've tried to ease that pain a little with an easy-to-make planner which can be re-used every year. Now, I know a lot of people use their mobiles for this kind of thing, but I am also sure there are plenty like me who find you can't beat paper and pen for planning stuff! The basis of my book is mini envelopes with tags slipped inside (hence you can re-use it just by replacing the tags) - I used a die for my envelopes but you can just as easily buy some small envelopes from a craft store or stationers, or create them using a score board. Stamp a selection of envelopes with Christmas stamps in embossing ink and emboss in white. Colour the images with Twinkling H20s - the embossed lines allow you to do this without obscuring the stamping Once you've finished painting, assemble the envelopes and ink the edges.

Altered Cigar Box

Image
Hello my crafty friends! Majo from the Design Team here. Welcome to my Rubber Dance tutorial post. Today I am going to show you how to turn a dull cigar box with a lot of stamps and some embellishments into a beautiful treasure box to keep for yourself or to give away. There is much room in the box, so someone will be a very happy person ;) I started with Gesso to make the surface even. I used two shades of Brown and a tad of Red, since I knew my lace was going to be red. I stamped all my images from the Set SEW SWEET on white card stock and cut them simply with scissors. I distressed the edges with Walnut Stain and set them aside. I randomly stamped a few images on Design paper and also stamped the "tape measure"  on Sticky Canvas. The criss cross stitching is from our " Stitch & Frame " Set I added sticky lace all around the lid of the box and decided against an knob or something else to open it, it is easy the way

Autumn Stamped and Embossed Card

Image
Hello again! Niki here, I have snuck back to do another design. Hehe! I am feeling the Fall weather and have never made a Fall card so that was where I started!  This is a 3.5 by 4.5ish card. The main flower image (Antique Botanicals) was stamped with black Archival ink onto some Shimmer Sheetz and then cut down.  I used plain white heavy cardstock for my base and embossed it with a Tim Holtz embossing folder.  I then added some Distress Inks in Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seed and Vintage Photo, and blended those together to stay with my Autumn color theme.  The corners pieces were made using a Spellbinders die cut. I applied a little bit of clear crackle to each "leaf" but you can't see it very well. I grouped the dies in each corner and added the red center bling. The red ribbon was added through small slits I made on the sides of the Shimmer Sheetz and pulled through to make the bow on the front of the card.  Those Shimmer Sheetz are hard to photogra

Stamping without an Ink-Pad

Image
Hi everyone! Susanne from the DT here and today I'd like to show you two other mediums with which you can ink up your stamps. It doesn't always have to be standard ink-pads. First of all we start with a card that is stamped with Neocolor II watercolor crayons. I'm sure you can use any kind of watersolubal crayons to do this. Let the fun begin! I picked out some autumn colors and one of the maple leaves from the Rubber Dance "Maple Leaves" set. I colored the stamp with the crayons and added some water with a brush. You need to experiment a little bit not to use too much water but even enough to get a good impression. I fixed my background (it's heavy weight watercolor paper) with some washi tape onto my working area. Your paper will not slip away and you'll get a nice white border.   To add some interesst I added some color splatters to the card. I skribbled the crayons onto an acrylic block, added water and splashed it random

A Challenge Year in Review

Helloooooo, friends, fans and adorable oddballs! (Takes one to know one, did you say?)  It's Bibi here today (in case you hadn't already guessed).  As you may have heard, this month we celebrate the 1st anniversary of our challenges! That's right! One whole year already! And what a fabulous year it was been. It has been such FUN seeing all the entries each month, and I've learned so much, been so inspired, and made some new friends, too. I've been extremely lucky with my DesignTeam who has made such good sample makes for the challenges, and DT Katy who has organized it all. You're the besties! I don't think this blog would have been such a fun and busy place, had it not been for our challenges. I know that many of you regular readers heard about this blog and Rubber Dance for the first time when you joined our challenges, or saw someone else's entry and followed their link back here. Thanks for staying with us! :-) I have browsed through all of o
